- Objective
The water purification experiment of Green Biotech Floating-island technology
- Country, region
China Kunming City, Yunnan Province
- Object water area
Dianchi Lake
- Background
Dianchi Lake is the largest lake in Chinese Yunnan Province, and the sixth largest one in China. It is located in the southwestern part of Kunming City and is surrounded by many places of interest.
However, as the development of industries in the surrounding cities, the water in Dianchi Lake was seriously polluted. Because of the numerous blue algae caused by over-eutrophication, the water had lost its capability of water resources.

- Technology
Green Biotech Floating-island
- content:
water area2800㎡
- content:
floating-island areathe construction area of Green Biotech Floating-island is 56㎡,
compared with other company's 200㎡
- Content:
floating-island plants(vegetables):
Aloe, sweet pepper, loosestrife, begonia fimbristipulata hance, cedrela sinensis, swamp cabbage, mint, pea, garlic
(ornamental plants):
phyllostachys nuda, chrysanthemum, China rose, hibiscus, jasmine flower, camellia sasanqua, Coleus blumei, Gazania sunshine, African violet, open herding, Snapdragon, narcissus, scarlet sage, carnation, tricolor viola, rhododendron hybrida, rieger begonia
- End time of
the experiment1th January, 2005
- Construction condition,
results
The 56㎡ Green Biotech Floating-island occupying only 2% of the water area purifies the water, as comparison, in other company's 200㎡ one, plants could hardly survive.
Costs: reduced to 1 tenth
Purification efficiency: increased by several dozen times
Plants * microbes, the water restoration effect is good
Binary effects purification + beautification, firstly develops the newt used tires reclamation technology
The reclamation of many other wastes
- Achievement
In order to introduce and popularize Green Biotech Floating-island technology, a national conference was held by China's National Environmental Protection Agency and State Council's Office of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project. (8~10th March, 2009, Kunming, Yunnan Province)
