    Chaohu Lake is a fresh water lake and belongs to Yangtze River system. It is surrounded by three cities named Chaohu City, Hefei City and Liu'an City in the central part of Anhui Province. It has an area of 760 k㎡ and is the 5th largest fresh water lake in China. Rivers like Nanfei River flowing through Hefei City join in Chaohu Lake, and flow into Yangtze River by passing through Yuxi River in the east of Chaohu.

    Large-scale biotech floating-island and GBC grand dam were constructed in the northwest part of Chaohu Lake.
    Nanfei River: large indoor botanical garden with high-level water purification capability.

  • Features of the project
    It makes the muddy Nanfei River clean from the fountainhead, and the effects remain all the way till the northwest water area of Chaohu Lake.
    By applying the bio-tech of Green Biotech Floating-island, it reduces the pollutant burden of the lake in a comparatively short time. Besides, it also restores the ecology, improve the self-purification capability and water quality of the lake.
    When purifying and improving water in the polluted water areas, it also provides population with water landscaping and recreational places.
    Besides, it can also produce some side benefits and contribute to the development of economy and society.

    results
    The feasibility report was submitted in October 2007.
    It was approved by the National People's Congress of China in March 2008.
